9/11 NEVER FORGET MOBILE EXHIBIT COMING TO BATTERY PARK

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (April 1, 2016) Hard Rock Hotel Sioux City announced today that it will be hosting the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit in Battery Park. The public exhibit will be displayed in Battery Park welcoming guests young and old as they pay tribute to the first responders and remember those who lost their lives nearly fifteen years ago. The exhibit will be open to the public May 5-11 in Battery Park.

About the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit

Stephen Siller, a New York Firefighter, was there on 9/11. He gave his life helping others. In return his family established the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation – in his honor and in his memory.

In September 2013, the Foundation dedicated the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit. Welcomed around the country, this mobile exhibit – a high-tech, 53-foot tractor-trailer, which unfolds into a 1,100 square foot exhibit – serves as a poignant reminder of that infamous day.

Through the presentation of artifacts, including actual steel beams from the towers, documentary video, recordings of first-responder radio transmissions, as well as guided tours by FDNY firefighters, people will learn what took place and the ultimate sacrifice so many made on that day. The goal of the exhibit is to provide an enlightening experience that will help communities to “Never Forget.”

“We must never forget the lessons learned that tragic day 15 years ago,” said Todd Moyer, General Manager at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. “It is our hope that we can give visitors the chance to reflect on those lessons and pay their respects to the nearly 3,000 lives lost. We are also thankful to provide an opportunity for our children to share in the experience and learn more about the real heroes of this great Country.”

The mobile exhibit will arrive in Siouxland on Wednesday, May 4th. A welcoming procession for the exhibit will leave at 6:30pm from the South Sioux City High School, travel through South Sioux City, cross over the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, and into downtown Sioux City where it will parked on display in Battery Park from May 5-11. Additional details about the finalized route will be presented closer to the event date.

“The attacks on 9/11 were fifteen years ago, and there is an entire generation out there that didn’t experience it and do not understand what happened that day,” said Tom Everett, Sioux City Fire Chief. “This exhibit will help them learn about it through firsthand accounts from the firefighters who were there.”

Entrance into the exhibit is free of charge and will be open to the public on weekdays from 2:30pm to 9pm, and on the weekend from 9am to 9pm. Select local schools will also have the opportunity to tour the exhibit during school hours. To lead visitors through the exhibit, four New York fire fighters will be guiding tours and speaking about their personal experience as a first responder at the 9/11 attack in New York.

Community members are asked to complete the online form to volunteer to help with the exhibit or to be included in the welcoming procession. The volunteer form and additional details can be found online at www.hardrockcasinosiouxcity.com/911-never-forget-mobile-exhibit.
