PERFORMING THIS WEEK:
A Hip-Hop artist from Sioux City, IA, Rev is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve. He brings a unique blend of rugged emotion to the genre. Coupling tales of heartbreak and addiction with an aggressive swagger, Rev is an artist all his own. Able to take his audience on an emotional rollercoaster with a vehement presence, the big man leaves it all on stage for the listener. One Sioux Falls promoter said it best after Rev’s recent performance at an annual festival: ‘The hype is real.’ 2018 will see the release of several solo projects as well as a few collaborative efforts. The best is yet to come.
Hello. For starters my government name is Gerardo Garcia-Dobbs and my music/stage name is Geri Dobbs. I am a male age 20 years old and I am from the state of Nebraska born and raised. I am of Native American/Mexican American/White American descent. I am a full-time college student and am currently enrolled in a Community College pursuing an Associates Degree in both General Liberal Arts and Carpentry; I am looking forward to graduating in the year 2019 with my attained degrees. Outside of being a college student I am also obviously a music artist.
This formal take on my biography won’t lessen the fact that music has consumed the majority of my time and focus in my life and is my prided life’s work. Since recording my first rap song in the year 2012 I have gone from a local YouTube sensation artist to a regional respected and revered artist. I have done countless performance shows both in and out of state as both a solo act and group act when performing with my music team, The 402. Every show performance I’ve ever done I look at as an accomplishment of mine along with: my winning of local rap competitions like, “The King Of The City Freestyle Rap Battle Contest”, my team and I’s accomplishment of coming into partnership with an official record label called 4Worn Records, the securing of the opening spot for myself for the rap duo DAD’s “Album Release Show”, which will be one of the biggest shows I’ve ever done, and simply amassing more and more fans and supporters of me and my team’s music each year.
I credit God for every good thing in my life and I especially acknowledge that he has blessed me with a gift for music and advancement with my craft. Without the support of God, my family, my friends, my fans, and of course my music teams I would not be where I am today. And I do not wish to selfishly splurge on these new things happening by myself as I prefer and wish that my teams and people get to take part in these things as well. The year 2018 is already looking to be the best year I’ve/we’ve ever had, evident by me writing my own Artist Biography for the first time for a big show competition that I am thankful to be apart of. Thank you.
