HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO SIOUX CITY TO HOST ELVIS WEEKEND: ULTIMATE ARTIST TRIBUTE CONTEST FOR 3RD TIME
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (November 21, 2016) –Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, along with media partner the Sioux City Journal, will host the third annual Elvis Weekend on January 27-28, 2017. This preliminary competition for the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, which will take place in Anthem, was first held in January 2015 at Hard Rock Casino Sioux City.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest is the official search by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE) and Graceland for the best Elvis Tribute Artist. Now through August 2017, Elvis tribute artists are invited to compete in official preliminary rounds being held around the world for their chance at the title of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2017. Preliminary winners, including the winner from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, will then travel to Memphis for Elvis Week 2017, the 40th anniversary, to compete in the Semifinal Round.
“For the past two years we have watched some of the best Elvis artist tribute artists in the nation compete on Anthem’s stage,” said Todd Moyer, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. “We cannot wait to see the talent at this year’s competition and expect it could be the best yet.”
Dwight Icenhower, a four-time world champion and winner of the 2015 Elvis preliminary competition at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, went on to win first place in the 2016 competition. The 2nd place winner in 2016 was none other than Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City’s 2016 Elvis Weekend winner, Ben Thompson.
Elvis Weekend kicks off Friday, January 27 with a public meet and greet. On Saturday, January 28, the tribute artists will begin their competition with performances at 12pm and 4pm. The final round of judging and performances will be at 8pm in Anthem. All Saturday performances are in Anthem and are ticketed shows.
Tickets for Saturday’s shows go on sale Friday, November 25 at 10am and can be purchased online at www.hardrockcasinosiouxcity.com and at the Rock Shop.
