THE STRUTS AND THE SPAZMATICS TO PERFORM AT HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO SIOUX CITY

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Jan. 28, 2019) – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City announced today that English rock band The Struts and 80’s cover band The Spazmatics will perform in Anthem later this year. The Struts will perform May 10 and The Spazmatics will perform June 8.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, and may be purchased at www.hardrockcasinosiouxcity.com or in-person at the Rock Shop. All events in Anthem are for guests 21 years and older.

THE STRUTS

Hit songs include: “Could Have Been Me,” “Body Talks,” “Kiss This”

Formed in England in 2012, The Struts almost instantly drew a major following with their outrageous live show and later made their debut with their 2015 EP, Have You Heard. The lead single “Could Have Been Me,” hit No. 1 on Spotify’s Viral Top 50 and No. 4 on the iTunes rock singles chart. The Struts opened for a crowd of 80,000 for The Rolling Stones in Paris and toured the U.S. on a string of sold-out shows before their first album was released.

The Struts released their most recent album, Young & Dangerous, in 2018. They have opened for music legends such as Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses and the Foo Fighters – with singer David Grohl praising them as the best band to ever open for the Foo Fighters.

The band’s mission is to create an unforgettable impact on the crowd, and lead singer Luke Spiller leaves a remarkable impression with his glittering onstage attire, courtesy of former Queen costumer Zandra Rhodes.

THE SPAZMATICS

Cover songs include: “Safety Dance,” “Oh Mickey,” “Jessie’s Girl”

The Spazmatics were formed in 1983 when physics professor Kevin Stigwood lost a debate to a pupil in front of the entire school. As agreed to by both parties, the loser would have to do anything that the winner demanded, and the student told his professor to perform “She Blinded Me with Science” by Thomas Dolby during half-time at an upcoming state basketball championship game. Having no musical background, Stigwood paired up with his brother Curtis, electronics teacher Sidney Baderman and teacher’s assistant Rusty A. Woodmeir. The foursome later performed at the basketball game to a standing ovation.

Known for their eccentric costumes which includes bowties, plaid pants, taped glasses and short shorts as a homage to the film Revenge of the Nerds, The Spazmatics now have lineups based in multiple U.S. cities such as Dallas, Chicago, Nashville and Las Vegas.
