HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO SIOUX CITY ANNOUNCES “ROAD TO VEGAS 2” BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITION
Second year of local competition hitting Anthem stage January 26
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (December 13, 2016) – Today, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City has announced it will once again invite local and regional musicians to take Anthem’s stage during the battle of the bands series called ROAD TO VEGAS 2. The competition, sponsored by The Weekender and Z-98, will begin on Thursday, January 26 and provide the winning band an opportunity to play a show at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, plus a $5,000 prize.
“Last year’s competition was a major hit with local musicians and their followers, so we knew we had to bring it back for a second year,” said Brad Streeter, Entertainment Manager of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. “We’re expecting to have even more bands submit applications this time around which will make this year’s battle even more diverse and competitive.”
24 local bands will be chosen to compete by Monday, January 9, and preliminary rounds begin on January 26. The preliminaries will be held Thursday nights starting on January 26. Three bands will compete in front of a live audience and a panel of judges for the top spot to move on in the competition. Participants will be judged based on marketing efforts, musicianship, and crowd reaction. All participating bands will be awarded cash prizes, but only the top band each week will also get to move on to the next round.
After several elimination rounds are held throughout the spring, the two remaining bands will go head to head on Saturday, May 13 for the chance to win a $5,000 gig at Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
ROAD TO VEGAS 2 is open to all genres of music. Band members must be 21 or older to apply, and bands must provide their own equipment. The application deadline is Friday, January 6th at 5:00 p.m. CST.
