HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO SIOUX CITY UNVEILS NEW RON EMORY MEMORABILIA CASE
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Monday, November 2, 2015) – Today,Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City unveiled a new display case in honor of famous local musician and Sioux City Conservatory of Music founder, Ron Emory. The display, located on the walkway from the gaming floor to the World Tour Buffet, features memorabilia of Emory’s career as guitarist for the influential punk band T.S.O.L.
“It’s an incredible honor to be included in a collection of so many outstanding music legends,” said Emory. “I’m lucky to have spent my career doing what I love, and hope guests will enjoy the display.”
Local Powell Broadcasting DJ, “Chopper Scott” Mackenzie, spoke about Emory’s life and career during the ceremony, referring to Ron as a “trendsetter in the world of punk music” who inspired a generation of bands to follow in his footsteps. The program also focused on Ron and Gia Emory’s efforts with their local non-profit, the Sioux City Conservatory of Music. The organization strives to inspire, educate, and preserve music in the Midwest through encouraging education and participation of everyone with interest in the subject, particularly youth.
“Ron is more than a punk music icon,” said Todd Moyer, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City. “The good work he and Gia are doing through the Conservatory should be celebrated, and we are proud to support their efforts. Music is a powerful unifier, and they are providing an open opportunity for people to make it part of their lives.”
“Music has given me so much, and I feel strongly about giving back,” Emory continued. “Gia and I have found great purpose in paying it forward through music in the Midwest, and we thank the Hard Rock for their support.”
The Sioux City Conservatory of Music’s major annual fundraiser will be held this Friday, November 6 at 6:00 PM at the Orpheum in downtown Sioux City. The fall program will feature student performances and a live performace from special guest Sublime with Rome. Tickets are currently avaialble for purchase on the Orpheum’s website.
