Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City’s Labor Day Weekend Events to Bring American Restoration Star, Firefighters’ Corn Hole Tournament, Live Performances, and Family Fun
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (August 27, 2014)– Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City’s Labor Day Weekend is sure to be a rockin’ time for Sioux City residents of all ages. Unique events are planned each day and will be hosted in Hard Rock’s outdoor venue, The Backyard, which will be open to guests for the very first time.
The party kicks off Thursday, August 28th at 6:30 pm with a concert by country artists David Nail, Craig Campbell & Charlie Worsham.
On Friday, August 29th at 7:00 pm, attendees of the first Rock N’ Rev event will have the opportunity to check out a classic car show and listen to live music from classic rock tribute bands for Billy Joel, Elton John, Tom Petty and the Doobie Brothers. Rock ‘N Rev will be hosted by History Channel stars, Rick and Kelly Dale, of the hit show American Restoration.
“We are thrilled to bring American Restoration’s Rick and Kelly Dale to Sioux City for Rock ‘N Rev this Friday,” said Todd Moyer, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City general manager. “The whole family can come down to meet the stars and enjoy the perfect mix of classic cars and classic rock to kick off the long weekend.”
The festivities continue on Saturday, when guests will have the opportunity to rock out with the Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry on during a live performance in The Backyard starting at 7:00 pm.
The culmination of the holiday weekend festivities will take place on Sunday, August 31st during The Backyard BBQ event. Free and open to all ages, this event runs from noon until 7:00 pm, and will feature a corn hole tournament, BBQ, live local bands, food trucks, and inflatables for the kids.
The corn hole tournament, now open for registration, is being hosted by the Local 7 Sioux City Professional Firefighters. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and will go towards the fight against neuromuscular diseases.
“Firefighters have been partnering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for 60 years in their fight against neuromuscular diseases,” said Sarah Orwig, Sioux City Professional Fire Fighters. “Sioux City Professional Fire Fighters Local 7 has made a commitment to help that fight. We are excited for this new opportunity to raise money for the MDA and look forward to the support form our great community.”

In addition to the tournament, Sunday’s event will feature live local bands including November 35th starting at 12:00 pm, Premium Draft starting at 2:30 pm, and Richie Lee starting at 5:00 pm. An air guitar contest presented by Z98, as well as children’s entertainment that includes a rock wall, various inflatables, and a zip line are also part of the day’s exciting line up.
