AVATAR TO PERFORM THIS SPRING AT HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO SIOUX CITY

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Feb. 5, 2019) – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City has announced that Swedish heavy metal band Avatar will perform in Anthem this spring. Avatar, who released their latest album Avatar Country last year, will perform on May 25, 2019, alongside singer-songwriter Devin Townsend, metal band Dance with the Dead and punk band ’68.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, and may be purchased at www.hardrockcasinosiouxcity.com or in-person at the Rock Shop. All events in Anthem are for guests 21 years and older.

Avatar was formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2001 by drummer John Alfredsson and guitarist Jonas Jarlsby, who at the time were performing in separate bands. Their debut album, Thoughts of No Tomorrow, was released in 2006 and peaked at No. 47 on the Sweden Albums Top 60. Avatar’s second album, Schlacht, was released in 2007 and reached the No. 27 spot on the Swedish albums chart. The band’s musical influences include Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne, forming their unique sound that has been described as avant-garde metal.

Most recently, Avatar released their album Avatar Country in 2018. They launched a Kickstarter campaign for ‘Legend of Avatar Country,’ which was described as a “film featurette based on the album Avatar Country by the band Avatar.” They exceeded their $50,000 goal by raising more than $110,000. This featurette has yet to be released.
